Yeah, the DM does, but I think that the crucial difference is that the DM
isn't playing to win, or to lose. He's tailoring things so that you have
fun. It's not a competitive environment (heh, well, unless you have a
sadistic DM, although since the DM is essentially God, I'm not sure how
competitive that is either).
