Hello,
There was an essay written in about 2000 or so about hunting
pressures on players in MMO's and MUD's (fairly certain it was
EQ-centric). It argued that players would hunt at the closest area
(resource) until enough players gathered there that competition
pressures annoyed them enough to move to a new area (resource).
Eventually they would settle into an equilibrium point - 70% at the
'easy' location and 30% at the 'hard' location.
I can't seem to find this essay/research paper now. Ring any bells?
