Well, it certainly looks workable. I have to say, however, that I'm
not a real big fan of combat based primarily on hit-point attrition.
Where is the strategy or tactics in this combat system? What
interesting choices do I get to make that can affect the outcome?
Do I get to make any of those choices while I'm fighting? I think
these are the questions I ask myself to determine if a combat system
goes beyond being mechanically sound to being *fun.* For me, anyway.
YMMV.
Don't get me wrong, though. Being able to put together a system
where the mechanics make sense (they are functional and balanced) is
important as well, and you seem to have done a decent job of it.
And as they say, fun is different for different people.
