Well I'll occasionally log onto other muds and talk to the imps (particularly
the coders).  If I notice a feature that I find appealing I'll ask them if 
they wouldn't mind explaining how it works, and I'll usually offer to show
the person around my mud if they've given me a tour of theirs (at that point
the conversation has usually evolved into software designs and implementations
anyway).

I don't EXPECT to be spoken to, but I usually find that - like me - many coders
are more than happy to talk about their work with someone who appreciates the
effort that has gone into it.
