For those of you who are interested in alternative to the alternative
operating systems, qnx is now available for download at their website:
http://www.qnx.com
Briefly, qnx is a modular micro-kernel optimized for embedded systems. It
claims to be very linux/unix compatible. It has posix compatibility, a
full 4.4 BSD socket library, and a very small resource footprint.
I'm currently investigating it for use in a pseudo-distributed mud
project.
