While I believe you have casually stated all of the grievances against the
casual gamer, I also believe that the entire community has casually
forgotten the lifeblood of the "obsessive" player. Sure, some of the more
addicted among us have rambled about the inherent desire to achieve, but,
perhaps in my uninformed opinion, it seems that these players have been
locked in the basement, forever destined to be the child of Omelas.

Rather than condemning the entire coterie as rapacious burdens, perhaps we
should look at them optimistically, revealing their undying support of the
community in all of its endeavors. By removing their ability to progress
more quickly than their peers, I feel that we could crush their ambition,
and in so doing destroy the vitality of the community itself.

Now, I recognize that the focus on the casual gamer was not meant to exclude
the power-players, but after such a lengthy pause on the untapped market, I
thought a little argument might prove to be a blessing. Before you entreat
the world to follow you, make sure that you are not going to sacrifice your
most loyal supporters.

Regards,

Jon Morrow
