Intuitively, wouldn't a *smaller* scale give a greater sense of
speed than a larger scale? ("Wow! I just ran a ten second 'mile'!") 
Actual speeds being equal, of course.

Just thought of an obvious cause of in-game scale problems:

		    really short designers.  ;)
