I've posted updated binaries for my Chunked LOD terrain demo. There
are many improvements since the previous release, including texture
quadtree tiling of gigantic textures, and background paging of large
datasets. This is the code & data I showed at the SIGGRAPH2002
course, "Super-Size It! Scaling Up To Massive Virtual Worlds".

The main download [~3.8 MB] is:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tu-testbed/chunkdemo-2002-08-06.zip?download

The above file comes with source (for Win32 and Linux), executables
for Win32, and John Ratcliff's crater dataset.

The project homepage (with a couple of screenshots) is here:

Additional datasets available here (some of the files are very big):

Puget Sound, 285 MB:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tu-testbed/chunklod-data-puget.zip?download

Maui, 23 MB:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tu-testbed/chunklod-data-maui.zip?download

Riverblue, exported from MojoWorld (http://www.pandromeda.com), 99 MB:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tu-testbed/chunklod-data-riverblue.zip?download

Hawaii, 17 MB:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tu-testbed/chunklod-data-hawaii.zip?download

Kauai, 105 MB:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tu-testbed/chunklod-data-kauai.zip?download

If you can afford the download time & disk space, the Puget Sound
dataset is the most impressive, technically, because it's so big. I
find the data itself fascinating. Riverblue has the best texture.
