That's an interesting idea. If the rule of a MUD is a that a character
will do nothing useful (e.g. just sleep or doze) if not directed by a
player, then long-term quests *must* be done by co-operating groups of
players. The idea being that when a player logs out, he give control
of the characters(s) he is running over to whatever other players are
still going to be online. The set of players must cooperate carefully
in order to accomplish the group goal.
