While I'm not the right person to comment on this, it has oft been
observed here that MUD-Dev itself (Hi Jon) models characteristics of
MUDs.  Certainly there has been some success in creating and
maintaining a professional atmosphere for the list.  And no, it is
not due to my moderation.  Moderation is a very new thing for this
list.  The posting controls for vast majority of this list's life
have the fact that it was either membership by invitation only, or
posting by application only.

Its probably worth going back into the archives and digging up the
various meta problems we had (and still have) with the evolution of
a MUD-Dev peerage.  In truth it is largely this fact alone that
finally persuaded me to stay silent on the list for an extended
period and to see what happened.
