Both would work as "short", and "sword" are descriptive references, and
would only be ambiguous if you possesed other objects those tags fit. 
"Sting" conversely is a name, and gives a guaranteed result.  The others
are contextual.  The same flexibility works in all the other cases and
object types as well.
