Writing as list owner:

I've just finished beating a "nomail" feature into Petidomo. The
nomail feature allows an address to be subscribed to the list (and to
have posting authority if that's applicable), but to NOT receive list
traffic.

This can be an useful for a number of reasons, such as:

-- turning off the list during a holiday so you aren't drowned in
mail upon your return

-- subscribing from multiple addresses or address aliases and to
only receive copies of list traffic at one of them, thus allowing you
to post from eany of your subscribed addresses and only receive one
copy of the list traffic (very useful for those of us with NFS mounted
mail spools).

To use the nomail feature, send a message to listname-request@kanga.nu
with the command "nomail <your_email_address>"

  eg:

   To: mud-dev-request@kanga.nu
    From: bubba@redneck.org
    --------
    nomail bubba@redneck.org

Synonyms for "nomail" are "tune-out", and "noread", and can be used
instead of "nomail" in the above command.

  eg:

   To: mud-dev-request@kanga.nu
   From: bubba@redneck.org
   --------
   tune-out bubba@redneck.org

To turn mail back on for an address. use the "mail" command:

  eg:

    To: mud-dev-request@kanga.nu
    From: bubba@redneck.org
    --------
    mail bubba@redneck.org

Synonyms for "mail" are "tune-in" and "read", and can be used instead
of "mail" int he above command.

I'll be updating the relevant list web pages in the near future.
