  When in EFnet iRC join #phanz, the official phanz channel.

  Where: Food Court in Countrywide Bank Center,
         Queen Street, Auckland City. between

  How : The Organisers will be holding an A4 sheet of
         paper with 2600 on, close to the entrance so
         the smokers can smoke.

                      setting up vodafone text messages

----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------

  You've bought yourself a brand new vodafone cell phone, and you want to
  know how to set up messages. This is how:

  (From my Philips diga so convert it to your phone)
  Menu > Messages > Send Message
  This is where it will ask you for a message. It helps if you have a friend
  that has a phone to send it to for tests. Put in anything here like "fdsa"
  or something because its just a test message.

  Send To
  Your mate's cell phone number.

  Center
  This is where you gotta stick in the important number. Most people have it
  set for 6421700700 or 021700700. For free messages change it to or stick in
  6421600600 or 021600600. This makes it free to send text messages.

  Its that easy.

  I dont know how long these free msgs are gonna last but they're free now
  and i know that its gonna change soon.

                           social engineering guide

----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------

  This is my guide to Social Engineering. It has different techniques from
  various texts I have read, and some of my own. I'd like to thank the people
  who take the time to read this, it took me ages to write.

  I'm not saying this guide is better or worse or different to any other of
  the hundreds of social engineering texts, I'm just saying that it's here
  if you want it.

  Introduction
  `^~^"^~"^~^`
  Social Engineering is an essential thing to most hackers and phreaks around
  the world. It is required to get passwords and logins, free phone calls,
  and to get away with a lot of things at school, at work, and on the street.

  Basically if you can't Social Engineer people into believing what you say,
  it is very difficult to get by.

  Social Engineering began many years ago by a couple guys who wanted
  something and had to lie to get it. I think thats how the story goes. So
  they invented Social Engineering. They were psychology students i think,
  so they understood the human mind.

  There are a few essentials that you must have in order to successfully
  social engineer.

  o The Deep Voice
  `^~"^`"^'^~`"^"`
  If your voice isn't broken or you have a high voice, then people aren't
  going to believe your an adult. To overcome this problem buy a voice
  changer, or have a friend with a deep voice.

  o The Calm Tone
  `~^~"`~^"~`~"^`
  You must talk calmly and clearly without sounding stupid or with a funny
  accent, like homie-G talk. Propper english is essential.

  o Sound Intelligent
  `~^"~^`"`^'"`~"^^"`
  You must sound intellegent. To do this just use big words and talk properly.
  If you want these guys to believe you are with the Computer Security
  Specialists then you have to sound like one.

  o You are Meant to be Doing This
  `~^"~^"~`~'^`"^'`"^`~^"^~`~^"^~`
  Sound as if you are supposed to be doing what ever your doing. For example
  if your pretending your a computer security specialist then sound like
  some one actually DID ask you to fix up their computers. Don't go all
  nervous at the first sign they dont believe you. Just keep sticking at
  it, after all, you are SUPPOSED to be doing this. Your getting paid for it.

  With these 4 things in mind, you can probably do your social engineering
  properly and safely.

          o Deep Voice
          o The Calm Tone
          o Sound Intelligent
          o You are Meant to be Doing This

  When Social Engineering, there are a few things that you should do/have.
  These are explained below.

  o Have a Phone Book Handy
  `~^~"^"~^"'^~`'"^`^~'^~"`
  If your in a system, you need to contact the people that own that system
  to get the passwords etc.

  o Take Notes
  `~^"^`^'~"^`
  Have NotePad or similar equivilent open, to copy and paste notes into. For
  example, a list of commands on the system, or to note down where things
  are etc.

  o No Noise
  `~^'"^'~"`
  Don't have any noise in the back ground when on the phone. People aren't
  going to believe you if you have a stereo blasting in the back ground, or
  dogs barking or a washing machine going. It has to replicate an office
  environment.

  o Be on a Computer
  `~^"'^'~`^"`^'`"^`
  If you're taking down information such as credit card numbers, having the
  back ground noise of keys typing madly helps the effect.

  So thats:

        o Have a Phone Book Handy
        o Take Notes
        o No Noise
        o Be on a Computer

  Here are a few scripts that you could use. You've seen madd0g's credit card
  ones so here are a few haX0ring ones.

                              HACKERS THE MOViE
                              `~^"`^'"`'^~`~"^`
U:Hi its <fake name>. I'm in BIG trouble. I need an assignment done and its
  due in tommorow. I need to get in to the computers and I seem to have lost
  my password. Could you give me yours for a second? Thanks.

T:<Must be like nearly 4am so they're real tired> uhh, ok.

                        COMPUTER SECURiTY SPECiALiSTS
                        `~^"'^'~``~^"'^'~``~^"'^'~`^`
  For this you must have a phone book and look up for computer security
  people. Use their name.

U:Hi its <fake name> from CSS (Computer Security Specialists) and we were
  told earlier that you wanted a routine system check on your computers.
  The data number for your company is xxx-xxx-xxxx right?

T:Yea it is. Are you sure we asked you? I dont remember.

U:This is a free service thats run by donation. What we do is we enter your
  UNiX system and increase the security of it. All we need is the root
  password or equivilent.

T:Free? Oh, ok yea sure. I'll pass you over to my supervisor.
S:Hello? Yea you want the root password. Here it is. "dsajkf;" you aren't
  going to do anything stupid are you? We are aware of the hacking laws.

U:No we certainly are not. <hehe> This is a free service to increase the
  security of your computer systems. Thank you very much. We will work
  on your computer soon. When we have we will inform you by phone of
  your system flaws and what we have done to fix them.

T:Uhh, ok, thanks.

U:Bye.
<CLiCK!>

  Its not always as easy as that but thats basically it.

  Well thats it for my Social Engineering guide. I hope you enjoyed it.

                                 Get free Porn

-----------------------------------=(l0de)=-----------------------------------

So u need porn hey, and u can't get it, shit! ok well this article I make
in if not work then format kinda like delphi hey.

So u need porn (for reasons unknown) but have no cash or don't want your
parents to see $30 to slutpuppies.com or what have we.

Well for example Jenna Jameson is nice (my friend is a pic trader ok) and
anyways...

1 go to altavista.com and type in "Jenna + Jameson" don't type in anything
esle otherwise u may get some whore or someone without a face follow?
u get some links ie www.porn.com and register give your stolen password etc.
but if not work (u too lazy, don't have any CC#'s on hand.)

1B alternativly u can type in Jenna Jameson and click the picture ratio
button I remeber this was popular at yahoo with jenny mccathny

2 again search and this time look down at the links to the web sites... are
the www.nudepics.com (always make u pay) or
www.membersxoom.com/dick/jenna/pics.html (usually shit html but free and
have the pic's) for example they can be from tonnes of places net taxi,
geocities, etc. just click on a link that works and u usually get what your
after look around gather a list of sites

2b get one of those passworded sites ie www.nudepics.com, and then go back
to altavista and type in "www.nudepics.com" this often can score u easy
backdoors to protected web sites. ie www.nudepics.com/cgi-bin/pink/tits.html

3 she must be elusive, this calls for tougher action, go look for passwords
at passwords.com or www.passwords4free.com my friends site unless he lie,
click on the links and get some passwords this has worked for me once k so
it is worth a try.

4 OK from now on u need to have a "pay to enter site" URL to play with, ie
one with "enter your username and password, download webcracker from some
site and begin cracking ok maybe u get a good password list from somewhere
ie www.passwordlists.com and begin cracking away of course using the guy.txt
for usernames. Through doing this I have gotton success a few times but tis
better using other meathods... I just tryed to see if it worked... oh and
use the proxies for safety.

5 still no success, well this is where is gets harder, u see if that above
didn't work think about wether that person u after actually does porn, etc
etc. select the site and do`some sort of query ie traceroute, ping and get
an IP if there is some sort of firewall or it times out for get it.
Otherwise start scanning for holes, get one of those cgi.c scanners and look
around cgi has tonnes of holes once, browse the cgi-bin directory I found
the password for root right there in some sub folders of cgi-bin. keep
looking other wise think about getting a girl friend or play boy or
something.

-----------------------------l0de--------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------=(#o6)=------------------------------------
                           trashing the paper chase

----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------

  Why trash the paper chase? Because stoopid people sometimes put their
  phone bills and credit card bills out, with details on them.

  Just look for boxes and plastic bags on your street (thats the paper chase)
  and grab them. Go through them, and search for the stuph you want. There
  is a very low chance of finding anything, but will probably be more if you
  do it just after tax return time.

-----------------------------------=(#o7)=------------------------------------
                        some more credit card numbers

---------------------------------=(GoTHiC9)=----------------------------------

Raiding (how to know what to look for)

It Gets serious here...completely serious. There are real consequences for
these actions. I have had no part in what i am going to be explaining. I have
been educated by few friends. There experiences add to the knowledge of
others, and that is what we are all about. Not just tex4ever or warezbbs but
ALL hackers and phreaks.

 ****Keep it Free****

 There are rules to be followed...and ethics to up hold. We all at one time
 create a name for hackers and phreaks every where. Whether it is a good
 stereotype or a false one, its up to you and what you do. Dont give me this
 crap "Ok, Ive heard this b4 can we get to it?". You will not like what you
 have become if you do not follow the rules and ethics.

 This I promise to you....

 1st Rule: You have never done anything illegal in your life.Thats what you
           tell all the ppl that ask.And thats what you tell your self.

 2nd Rule: Tell no one of what you do. Noone unless you trust them with your
           life.

 3rd Rule: Hurt no one in your actions. Dont be overcome with greed. Take
           only what is useful.

 4th Rule: Prepare for everything. Plan everything. Know what you dealing
           with.

 5th Rule: Be paranoid! Forget that "one out of three hackers is a fed"
           Remember "3 out of 3 hackers is a fed". Then you will be safe.

                                  irc girls

----------------------------------=(lusta)=-----------------------------------

Hello, my name is Jen. I decided to write an article on the role that
females play on irc, and the overall personna that is created based solely
on their gender. The basis for this article was made on assumptions created
by a survey taken, questioning close to 30 active irc users. Most questioned
were people of #b4b0, or friends of mine (see list of nicks below). The
questions i asked, consisted mainly of "what do you think of females on
irc", and to the girls, i asked mainly "do you feel as though you're treated
differently, for the sole reason of being female". The feedback I received,
varied a little, but the overall conclusion resulted in, 'yes, females are
treated differently'. Although, the ways that the females were
differentiated, varied from guys either being harsh or overly nice. Their
intensions were also questioned in the survey, and I'd have to say that
overall the guys with which we associate are warm-hearted and sincere, but
occasionally lacking entertainment or suffering from boredom.

I wasn't surprised to find that a lot of the guys question the authenticity
of the information that a girl offers (eg. pictures, personal information,
sexual oriented information, gender, etc.) Not many of the guys made a
decision that just because a girl is on irc, means that she is either
lifeless or unworthy. However, there was a comment made, that basically
noted "the reason for a girl to be on irc is to get attention, so she will
do whatever is asked of her, including cybersex or phonesex, to accomplish a
sort of acceptance, or acknowledgement".

Girls be proud of these guys though, and appreciate the hard work and effort
of their endeavors, because they're willing to share their knowledge and
teach you. All of the guys in the survey denied that they would not coach or
teach someone just because they are female. There is no reason why we
shouldn't have interest in what the guys are passionate about, or what they
excel in, if we're going to spend so much time with them, or in their
presence. I would also guess that, we might be respected more, if we did
make at least the effort to learn about the things that they participate in.

I asked the girls if they were upset or frustrated by the expectations made
by guys online. The comparisons, expectations, standards, we all know these
obstacles can at times be upsetting or disppointing. After surveying the
girls, i was surprised to find that most of them didn't really care what the
guys thought about them. Seeming pretty confident (unfortunately, i am
lacking in this attribute, so my perspective is different from some of the
girls), a lot of them seemed to make the decision that, if they're not seen
as being good enough, than the person judging was obviously the inferrior
one.

The basic conclusion, and request from this article, comes down to,
appreciate and respect each other equally. Be there for people, for the
reason of making a difference, not for the expectation of receiving some
kind of "favor" in return. Don't make assumptions about someone, nor create
pretenses to be appreciated. If you have to have a nude picture with a
saying "bozo owns me" accross your chest, than obviously there is lack for
respect, acknowledgement, and appreciation for the person you are, and for
your expression. It's commonly said that you can't really know someone from
irc on a personal level, but i disagree. Intimacy and friendship is very
apparent online. Appreciate the people that you spend hours with, without
being so harsh and insulting without reason.

Oh, last thing...everyone denies their cybering experience, so why do us
girls recieve constant requests? ;P Special thanks to everyone that
participated in the survey, and especially to b4b0. (tip, tgb, dono,
pr0phet, polder, jsbach, mosthated, angieb, mynd, icesk, misfit, eckis,

                               braking into cars

----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------

  Its really really easy to brake into a car and steal stuff. This is a
  simple guide on one way of doing it with very little noise and damage
  to the vehical.

  In most vehicals (excluding convertables and jeeps) have 6 side glass
  panels. They have the one beside the front seat, and the two beside
  the rear seat.
                   ____________________________
                  / /   |         |||        \ \
                 / / 1  |    2    |||    3    \ \
    ____________/ /_____|_________|||__________\ \_________________
   /  boot       \                 |             /        front    \
   |       _____  \  ==            | ==         /   _____           \
   |      /     \  \               |           /   /     \          |
   |_____|   o   |__\______________|__________/___|   o   |_________|
          \_____/                                  \_____/

  The glass panel labelled "1" is the one you brake into. To brake into
  it just get a screw driver and stick it down between the window and
  the metal of the car and bend backwards. That should smash it with the
  least amount of sound.

  Just unlock the back door and enter the car.

  If the car has mags then usually you will find the wheel locks under
  the front seats, in the glovebox or in the boot.

  Once your in the car search for money or stuff you could sell and
  if they've got a good stereo nick it.

                         TRiCK THOSE TRUANCY OFFiCERS

-----------------------------------=(BLZ)=------------------------------------

Ok so you like bunking School or going out of the grounds at lunchtimes
but you cant because their are so many truancy officers cruising around
in their cars.

If you get caught be them you could say a fake name, but they would
tell the school who they have nabbed and then the school would say we
have nobody enrolled here called that, blah blah..... Then they would
probably ask the truancy officer what did that person look like and
eventually you will get busted and get in more trouble than you
would have if you told them your real name in the first place.

So what you should do is get ahold of some enrolment forms for your
school or if you are planning on wearing mufti when you bunk any school
in your area. Fill out the forms with fake names and shit, but put in
your cell phone number or if you dont have one your home phone nhone number
(it will be easier for the school to trace you if you use your home number).

So now all you have to do is when you are bunking and get caught is
tell the truancy officer the name that you used on the form. The
school will be told and wonder why a person was caught bunking on
the first day at that school, they will probably ring up the number
you used on the form and want to speak to the parents of the name you
used. All you have to do i make up some lame excuse for him/her being
away. Its probably better to get an older friend to speak to the school
on the phone because they will sound more legitimate.

                               Party Poppers!

----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------

  Party Poppers are wonderful explosives. You can use them to make really
  nasty things that you can take to school and reak havoc with. Heres some
  nasty things that I have come accross or made up that you can make with
  just a party popper and some of the things you have in your pencil case.

  SPiTBALL LAUNCHER

  If you wish to shoot a spitball quite safely at a velocity in excess of 180
  feet per second its made quite simple by using the explosive out of a party
  popper for propellant and a pen for the gun.

  You will have to find a pen with has both ends that screw off (papermate
  flexigrip is ideal). Unscrew both ends and remove the guts of the pen, now
  through the hole in the point of the pen thread the string from a party
  popper, screw the point back on making sure the explosive is on the inside &
  string outside.

  Now ram a spitball, or if you are intent on hurting someone use some hard
  plastic projectile, what i had was the plastic cap things you screw onto
  bare screws that happened to be a perfect fit for the pen, these would
  penetrate an aluminium drink can. Ram it down until its touching the
  explosive.

  Its now ready to fire, just pull the string and BANG.

  Here is an ASCii i made just to show you how:

                                                      String
         ___________________________________          /
                                       ** ==|==--,__ /
         ______________________________|____| \     `--,____
                   |                   |       \
                   |                   |      Party Popper
               Pen Body             Spit Ball

  POTATO LAUNCHER:

  Not really to be done at school but what the hell.

  Get your deodorant, and spray the inside of a PVC pipe with a small
  hole drilled in the side with just enough space to fit an ignitor (BBQ ignitor, etc)
  in it with no room or holes showing. Cover the end of the pipe with
  something and stick a cup at the other end with a hole in the bottom for
  the potato to fit into. Here is an ASCii diagram of it:

                                    ________
   ________________________________/
  |_________________________ ______  cup
         |                  ~      \________
         |                  |
     PVC Pipe            ignitor

  To fire, spray the inside of the pipe with lots and lots of deodorant. Stick
  a potato tightly in the cup so no air can get out, and ignite the ignitor.
  The potato should go flying.

  MATCHES

  Grab 2 boxes of matches. Rip the side panel (the strike bit) off the side
  of one and stick it in the match head end of the other box as shown in
  the ASCii:
                             match box
                        _________|__________
                       |  /=---------------_|
                       | /=---------------__|
           strike of----|=---------------___|
          other box    | \=---------------__|
                       |__\___________|_____|
                                      |
                                      |
                                   matches

  To ignite, just throw it at something. Its real cool.

-----------------------------------=(#i8)=------------------------------------
                                Double Happy Gun

--------------------------------=(J.S. Bang)=---------------------------------

  Here is a real easy gun to make. If you try any of these things and blow
  off your hand, arm, or even die, its not my fault. So har har har. But the
  chances of that are not very likely so you aint got a lot to worry about.

  Double Happy Gun
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  What you need:
   - Double Happy
   - Small Pipe
   - Ball Bearing
  The pipe has a small hole in 1 end just big enough to fit the double
  happy in and the other end is left open as shown in the diagram below.
         __________________________________
  --___-|====+======= *
         ~~~~|~~~~~~~~|~~~~~~~~~~~~|~~~~~~~
       double happy   |          pipe
                      |
                ball bearing

  To launch, just light the fuse and point it at something.

  Your all geared up with a bunch of out-of-town numbers to try once you
  get your new credit card your "friend" on irc is giving you for nothing.
  Turns out he's not giving it to you at all and all you have is your old
  expired card that was used months ago. It looks like you have no
  alternative left. But then someone (me) shows you the light. This is
  what to do once your old card runs out.

  Grab a copy of THC-TC19.ZiP, THC's credit card number generator, the one
  I use and in my opinion, the BEST credit card generator ever made, and
  goto option 3 (Extrapolate new cards from existing). Then type in your
  old card number.

  4495 1201 1020 1712     <-- EXAMPLE! (really was a card once)

  Choose it to make 100 numbers.

  Use EDiT.COM (yea, i love dos) to view the list you have just created.
  Go through, and ring 0800 180 181 (credit call, nz only), press 1, and
  punch in the first number. Use the exp. date from the old card to test
  it (thats what i do any way), and in the example given above the exp. was
  01/00. Then wait for it to be verified.

  If you get an error message saying "Your credit card has been declined,
  please contact your bank for assistance." Then you have a valid credit
  card number, but not the right expiry date. If you want you could try
  all the expiry dates ahead, but thats not what I do. Instead, I just go
  on to do the next number.

  If you get an error message saying "I'm sorry, but you have entered a
  wrong credit card number." hang up because that number hasn't been
  issued yet.

  If you get an error message saying "I'm sorry, but that card has been
  reported lost or stolen." then hang up, and think, damn, I wish I got
  phanz earlier, because someone else has bet you to that card number.

  Here is the 100 Credit Card numbers that I got out of THC-CREDiT.

First of all, get some $$$. $50 will be enough, then go to yer dealer or
someone ya know that will give you a good amount of weed for the money ya
spend. Tinny housez usually rip ya off unless you've been going to the same
one for a long time so try to find somebody at school or wherever that growz
just for personal use cuz they'll give ya a much better deal. Once you've
found someone that will give you a good deal buy a $50 bag (or more) and
take it home. Try to avoid the temptation of smokeing any budz...yet, cuz
there'll be plenty more where they came from once ya start dealing. Now,
take all of the seedz out of yer weed and keep the good ones. You can tell
if seedz are fucked or not by squeezing them. The fucked ones will pop and
the seedz that are plantable shouldn't. Don't apply too much pressure or
you'll pop the good seedz too. Now that you've got yer unseeded budz, take
some tin foil from the kitchen and divide your 50 bag into about 4 tinniez.
The number of tinniez you can make may vary depending on how good the 50 was.
Now your ready to sell. Don't go to the pot heads at yer school cuz they'll
know where to go to get better dealz than what you can give them...at the
moment. Try to sell to a group that smoke up sometimes but not like every
day. Those are the people that tinny housez rip off by selling small ass
budz and heaps of cabbage. Sell yer tinniez for $20 each cuz that's about
the going price (in Christchurch). Now you've made a proffit you can do the
same again. Remember, buying in bulk ALWAYS works out cheaper. For example,
you would get more in a $100 bag that you would in 2 50's. In the next issue
of phanz I'll talk about how to plant those seedz yer saveing up.

This article will offer you the understanding of the difference between a hub
and a switch. Also depending on your needs, you will be able to determine which
choice is ideal for your network. After researching, I found that switches offered
a lot more than a hub in areas of security and reduction of traffic, while a hub
is available at a much lower cost.

Within a network, a hub is a central connecting device that joins communications
lines together in a star configuration. Connecting units that add nothing to the
data passing through them would be a passive hub. Active hubs, also sometimes
called multiport repeaters, regenerate the data bits in order to maintain a strong
signal. Hubs are mandatory in 10BaseT twisted pair Ethernet as well as Token Ring
networks.

With passing data, a hub is only able to send an incoming packet to all ports,
If a packet is sent to one port of the hub, that packet is also bounced
to all 7 other ports. A hub just bounces packets, an example could be like a
bunch of lines being hardwired together along with an amplifier.

Switches are mechanical or electronic devices that direct the flow of electrical
or optical signals from one side to the other. A switches with more than two ports,
such as a LAN switch or PBX, are able to route traffic. A switch can direct a
packet to the port it's destined to. The way a standard level 2 switch works,
is this - when a computer wants to communicate over IP it sends a broadcast packet
out called an arp request. It's like saying, "Who owns 192.168.1.3"?, and the
computer that owns it replys with, "I do, and my MAC address is 80:FE:A5:5B:12".
So basically, it remembers the machine hooked up to a specific port's MAC address.

Amount of traffic is saved by use of a switch, because when packets are received
through a switch back, the switch is able to direct the packet to the
direct port. Let's say that one computer is transmitting at 50% capacity
(50% of the network capacity (10bT would be 5mbits/s)), since all of those packets
are hitting all the other computers they are limiting the bandwidths of the
other machines on the hubs as well. This will not make a large difference unless
running a large network of maybe 100 stations or more.

Switch Back offers a higher level of security, since all packets are bounced
to all machines on a hub, it is possible for a "hacker" to put the ethernet
card on a computer outside the source and destination machines into promiscous mode.
Basically, it is like eavesdropping in on a conversation (also known as "sniffing"),
observing passwords in an unencrypted session.

The main reason a hub is usually chosen over a switch is for cost purposes. A switch
can cost up to 50-80% more than a hub, depending on the amount of ports.

While at a higher cost, a switch definately proves to be an ideal choice with a large
network. It is apparent why a switch can perform better, and provide a higher level
of security.

      BACK ORIFICE 2000, THE ONLY WAY TO CONTROL A MICROSOFT NETWORK

[July 2nd, San Francisco] The CULT OF THE DEAD COW (cDc) will debut its
latest remote network administration tool called Back Orifice 2000 on July
10th at Defcon VII in Las Vegas. This program is the most powerful
application of its kind and puts the administrator solidly in control of
any Microsoft network.

Back Orifice 2000 is a best-of-breed network administration tool, granting
sysadmins access to every Windows machine on their network. Using Back
Orifice 2000, network administrators can perform typical desktop support
duties without ever leaving their desk.

Some notable features include:

   * Windows NT support (as well as Windows 95 and 98)
   * an open plugin architecture to allow for 3rd party add-ons
   * strong cryptography to ensure secure network administration
   * open source, available under the GNU Public License

"It's a totally professional tool. Essentially it sews together Microsoft
networks in ways that were never possible before," says Mike Bloom, Chief
Technical Officer for Gomi Media, Toronto. "BO2K is a control freak's dream
and the strong crypto feature gives the legitimate administrator a level of
confidence that just didn't exist before. It's one kickass app".

Back Orifice 2000 evolved from Back Orifice (the name itself a pun on the
"Back Office" server suite from Microsoft), released by the cDc at last
year's Defcon.

Back Orifice 2000 was written by cDc code monster Dildog with input from
Sir Dystic, the originator of Back Orifice.

According to Dildog, "When it comes to administering Windows networks, the
most problematic thing has always been the lack of powerful remote control.
Unix administrators have enjoyed remote logins for decades, and with the
dawn of tools like Secure Shell (SSH), Unix systems can be securely
administered from anywhere in the world. Windows needed it too."

"Now that we've enhanced the Windows administration experience, we hope
that Microsoft will do its best to ensure that its operating systems are
robust enough to handle the control we've given to them," added Dildog.

If last year's release of Back Orifice is any indicator, Back Orifice 2000
will be a huge success. The first generation app caused quite a stir with
the hacking community and the press. The Cult of the Dead Cow's webmaster
reported a whopping 300,000 downloads from the primary and mirror sites,
and predicts that Back Orifice 2000 will move briskly into the Microsoft
networking environment.

That's good news for network administrators but not the best news for
Microsoft. Sysadmins will have at their disposal a professional open-source
application, free of charge. Unfortunately for Microsoft, Back Orifice 2000
could bring pressure on the software leviathan to finally implement a
security model in their Windows operating system. Failure to do so would
leave customers vulnerable to malicious attacks from crackers using tools
that exploit Windows' breezy defenses.

Back Orifice 2000 will be available for download free of charge from
http://www.bo2k.com/ after July 10th, 1999.

Social Engenering in Action Vol.1 {coReflected by The TrAshMaN.}

[{Social Engenering in Action}]

Vol.1

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In many occasions the situation will arise to present yourself in a certain
matter as a character you will play.ie: 'Equal Entity' character, 'Self-
Proclaimed Lamer', or the professional "admin".The biggest mistake a hacker
or phreaker ever makes is not paying attention to the "middle man" (the guy
who maybe standing in your way {not letting you recieve ANI or something}
just because you dont have an ID #)ANI= Automatic Number Identification. Any
wayz...Social engineering is saying you are a systems manager to the way you
ramble off a series of numbers. like--- me="the id for the splicer is 740
(zero)9840(zero)". The usage of "zero" insted of O might lead the victim err
Engineerie to believe that you are a professional. Remember every detail is
important, to the pause in your words to the intentional stutter you do in
the case of the self-acclaimed lamer.
I will start with...the "professional "admin" character. Most ppl who seem
to be in a higher level of seniority have...tones and habits they use when
talking to someone whom is under them in the corporate ladder.Tones such as
a strong or loud voice. (not neccessarily hostile) If you greet someone over
the fone as that you have an attitude they will be even more hesitant to
give you access. If they have any doubt that you arent who you say you are,
being hostile will not help. Ok,is time to begin.but b4 we do anything there
are some things we must remember...
1)There are consequences
2)Dont abuse any power you might gain. Others might enjoy having the
  unsuspecting security
3)Stay calm and dont forget to breathe
| Professional admin |
Be nice. Always have some sort of name/address/fone. Have a story you can
easly edit for the circumstances @ hand. Stay calm and have faith in your
self.
The greeting of the higher ranking usally is short followed by a command or
a request.
Guy:Hello, how may I help you?
Admin:HI, I need to speak with the Board Tech.
Now,it depends what your dealing with. The guy might ask for an id # In that
case there are a few thing you may do. Think up a bogus id. Then sound
accused and maybe offended that it doesnt work. Ask,yes ask to speak with the guy who can clear it up (asking to speak to some1 "bigger" might scare off the guy)
or
play dumb, in this case you must INCREASE your calm. say..."I havent been
asked my id in a long time!":)(say it nice)
Guy:"well sir i am going to need some id"
Admin:"Hmmm, Ya know I havent been asked that in a long time I am sure I got
it here some where..."(you dont find it):)
Guy:"Well sir am sure you understand, I cant let you have (blah blah)"
Admin:"Well son(<---showing a lower state), I am given access regularly.I
need this (blah) ASAP"
Guy:"Yes ic. But..."
Admin:"Are you new?!?!"
As you can see the consistancy of the conversation has greatly increased in
"agression". And the annoyance of the admin has also. But there has still
yet to be a breakthrough. This calls for the hostile admin character.
Admin:"Are you new?!?!"
Guy:"no sir...(might go to say something else)
INTERUPT
Admin:"Then you would know me, Antonio Banerous"
Guy:"No sir Im sorry."
Admin:"Well then might I get to know you?"
Admin:"Your name and ID, please?"
Ok,It is important at this time not to upset the guy but to scare em' If he
gets mad that is the end. Admin:"Your name and Id,please?". You dont even
know if he has an id. But this is where the thought comes in... Say he has
an id. You get it and then you say something bout telling
JoeBlowSuperGuyInCharge how much trouble he gave you. And if he does not
have an ID...
Admin:"Yourname and id,please?"
Guy:"I dont even have an id!!!"
Admin:"Well then,Thats about how ridiculous you are asking me if I have one"
Well,chances are this exact conversation wont happen. But AdLib it and you
should be fine.
How to convert a Canister Grenaid (CG) into a throwable shrapnel grenaide.
By: f00bz
(NOTE: View this text in edit.com, so the diagram is viewed properly!>
The CG is a deodarant can shaped explosive, that is used to blow up when a
door is opened etc... In this article we will teach you how to convert a
normal CG into a throwable shrapnel grenaide. Take a look at this diagram:
 Frontview:                Sideview:
          P I N
           /  __                _
       o-----|__|----<         | |
           __/__\__          __/  \__
          |       |         |   |   |
          |       |         |   |   |
          |       |         |   |   |
       /  |       |         |   |   |
      |   |_______|         |___|___|
      |                          \
      Metal Cover                 Metal Cover Seperation: (Do not open!)
What not to do:
1. Do NOT pull out the PIN!
2. Do NOT shake the grenaide!
3. Do NOT force cover seperation open!
How the CG works:
The way the CG works is simple. There are two metal covers that are held
together by the PIN. If the PIN is pulled the two metal covers fall apart,
letting the explosive fall to the ground and then the explosive explodes
on the grounds impact...
Converting the CG:
What you need:
- Material Bandage
- Strong Tape
What to do:
Place the CG on a soft surface. Get the Material Bandage and wrap it around
the two metal covers (See the diagram). Now get your strong tape and tape it
tightly around the Bandage, so it holds the bandage in place... Thats it!
(Make sure the bandage covers 100% of the metal covers!>
Now what?:
Whatever you do, do not shake the CG otherwise it will explode!!
Ok now when you want to use the CG, simply remove the PIN and throw the CG as
far as you can... When the CG hits the ground the impact will set-off the
explosive and shrapnel will fly everwhere! (The shrapnel is the Metal Covers)
                          Edgewater College Computers
Edgewater College is located in Pakuranga, Auckland. It has computers
scattered around the school, most connected to the main network, some not.
The english computers, located in B block, the english block, are not
connected to the network. These are old 486's that run Windows 3.11. You can
get a DOS prompt by simply hitting F6 on starting up, and pressing N for No
on what it wants to run out of the CONFIG.SYS & AUTOEXEC.BAT. No logs.
Nothing. A lot of useful english stuff, sometimes answers to an up coming
test, and lots of students work. Its fun to poke around in there.
Just do a:
SET DIRCMD=/O
DIR /S > A:\ENG_C.TXT
D:
DIR /S > A:\ENG_D.TXT
That way you can find out what you are looking for.
The networked PC's are different however. The format for the user names is
the tutor group of the student, followed by a dash (-) and the number that
student is on the roll. For example, TO7-12. The login is always 5 characters
long. Here is a list of Tutor groups.
TO1                                  TI1
TO2                                  TI2
TO3                                  TI3
TO5                                  TI5
TO6                                  TI6
KO8                                  RI8
The password consists of 2 letters and 3 numbers, eg: AB123. The teachers
consist of the first 4 letters of the surname, and the 1st letter of the
1st name. EG: Ms Tucker is MTUCK and Mr. Martin is CMART.
The computers in the PSD room (Couriers Room) run DOS with Direct Access 5.0
and the logins are simply the 3 letter acronym of the teachers name. For
example, Ms McAllum is MCM.
T1 has all the "new" Pentium II 233's, all connect using Novell Netware 4.0.
A free login and password that allows you to connect to the internet is
"internet/01" or "internet\01: or "internet-01" I can't remember what one
it is. One of them. You wont be asked for a password for that account, and
it goes from 01 to 99 and I think 00 as well.
If you have an info on your school computers, email it to me. It will appear
in the next phanz mag. Your text is greatly appreciated.
                               killer water bong
-----------------------------------=(l0de)=-----------------------------------
Ok so u want to make a bong right.....so u can have anti-anti-social sessions
or some shit. Right the BESTEST bong to make is the water bong.....tis clean
fresh and looks nice on the mantle place. Plus cause the smoke is cooled your
lungs don;t get as fucked( u still get just as high). And because it made
out of glass tis strong and last ages u can even hand it on to next
generations and have it as a family heirloom or some shit. Anyways u make it
like so
   [  ]       ---------bowl (weed cavity)
    ||  _____
    || | ___ |
    ||_||   || --------u suck here (Out take)
    || |||
    || |||     --------stopper
    /| ||\    -------|
   /|| || \          |
  / || ||  \         | pipes
 |  ||      |        |
 |__||______|        |
 |  ||      | -------|
 |          | -------- water (coolent)
 ------------
(oh the weed goes in the cavity.. is lit smoke falls down and down into the
liquid and bubbles up into the conical flask and because the sucker is
pointing DOWN it don;t until u suck)
Now where u get all this shit, school u know those school fees u pay, well
this guy sitting next to me in math said they were for water bong parts. So
just find your way into the science depo and grab stuff, say its for your
science fair project and whatever, look for cameras and don't take all the
real good, one of a kind harsh making kits cause they find out and bust your
little operation trust me I hid some of them and they made a big deal till
they found them, take the shit stuff out of the cupboards that isn;t labled
and won;t be missed.
there we go so u need one of those 2 holed plug/stopper things, one conical
flask some pipes (use rubber to make the bend if need be) and something for
a bowl, just look through the chemistry stuff at school I use this connector
thingy i found for a like some sort of distiller.
now connect everything up and there u go, easy to assemble when ever u need
it plus it looks kewl
have phun and enjoy a long and prosperiuos life - l0de
                               Secure your BBS
----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------
  So you've set up a real good board and you want to know how to keep it
  unhackable. Well first off, let me tell you there is no such thing as an
  un-hackable BBS. This text is coming from the Sysop's point of view, not
  a hackers.
  Here are a few guidelines that can keep you out of trouble and make life
  a little harder for your hacker.
  STEP 1:
  Change all the default passwords that come with the BBS Software.
  For example, the sysop password. I was running an Renegade BBS and kept
  the default sysop password "SYSOP", and bingo! I got hacked. Change it
  to something unguessable like "jpo21ty6g13mej98qty6" and make it real
  long (that one's 20 chars).
  If there are any other default passwords, change them also.
  STEP 2:
  Set a password on your config executables.
  For example, in a RemoteAccess BBS you can set password on all the EXE
  files like RACONFiG.EXE etc.
  STEP 3:
  Keep logs in an unguessable DIR on another hard drive. For example storing
  logs to X:\CARS\MAGS\BOLTNUT is a good idea. Or even better, keep them
  on A: or B:
  STEP 4:
  DO NOT RUN DOORWAY! It may come in useful when getting people to help you
  set up the BBS before it goes online, but other than that its one of the
  most dangerous utility to have online.
  STEP 5:
  Do not use words as your personal password.
  These are the easiest to guess. With the "SYSOP" password I said above, my
  personal password was "YOMAMMA". Instead use long unguessable passwords
  like "j4391jkgbk6df17nz1".
  STEP 6:
  Keep yourself on normal access until your online when you can change it
  anyway. That way people can't use your account to access the sysop areas.
  STEP 7:
  Only use Z-Modem.
  Its the only protocol you can trust. For example, Bi-Modem has a hole that
  if the user has a registered copy of it, and uploads something, he can get
  a dos shell.
  STEP 8:
  Keep your BBS simple. Dont run too many doors and only run doors you can
  trust.
  STEP 9:
  CO-SYSOPS
  Only use co-sysops that you trust with your life. Like if you we're out on
  the street and some guy came up that you couldn't take down but he could
  and he did. That type of guy.
  STEP 10:
  Delete the co-sysop menu. Once you have got everyone to set up your BBS
  this has no more use. If you must, just have a basic one, for example,
  just a menu editor and message editor. NO FILE EDITOR!
  STEP 11:
  Keep backups of all your important files. For example, USERS.BBS or
  USERS.DAT (the user files), and the message bases. These are invaluable
  if you dont run a message network of all your message bases. Especially
  if you run an h/p BBS. The information there is good.
  Now it should be harder to get into your BBS. Even if a hacker does get
  in, you should have backups of the important files.
                             Rage Against Column
----------------------------------=(l0de)=------------------------------------
Ok. Mc Donalds sucks, the food not only is bad for u it tastes like crap,
the service sucks and everything is over priced, some greenie on the news
said she had this mc d's burger for 2 years and it had only started to
decompose, looked almost as bad as when u get them.
Now to rage againes them, oh all credits to my friend and has friends who
did this and gave me the idea, what an orignal.
First u need some friends ie 4 but more is better, u need a victim mc d's
pref in a dense population works best and u need some sort of mass printer,
ie library fotocopier they easy to rip off still they may think u kinda
crazy printing of like 1000 copies at 20cents a piece so do during a week or
something.
Ok u want to make a flyer that is gona say something like this
"We at Mc Donalds are a caring bunch (get some coupons and read it back to
front and understand the format that they write in, go to the web site to u
want to make it original for it to work.) and we care for the enviroment so
on this day XX XX XX at this store we will give u a free big mac for every
bag of rubbish, plastic whatever that u bring in. simply present your coupon
and redeam your free big mac, check spelling and talk as though they would.
oh and do it on just one day so they have a rush of ppl coming in.. for
effect of course.
now print of a copy and photocopy it as much as u can in colour if possible,
now give like 100 to each friend and advertise, post them in ppl's mail
box's aim for little kids they eat mc d's shit and are thick... post posters
over the metallica and korn ones u see that advertise the bands, post
everywhere ppl see them, go into the mc 'ds and put them on the eating tables
fuck just spread them start a web site or some shit.
Now after doing this about a week before hand, just laugh and mc d's will
suffer abit for what is has done to small businesses selling wholesome food.
                              Easy Beige Box Plan
----------------------------------=(fOrmat)=----------------------------------
 OK, so you've got the beige box texts and thought, fuck this, im not reading
 20+ pages to make a beige box! Well, heres the super quick easy way to make
 one.
 Yea. Theres been plenty of these texts in the past, heres another one to
 ad to the heap.
 *****Skip to here if you dont wanna read the above bullshit*****
 Plans:
 Get a Phone jack (the thing u plug the ph into) and look on the back. If you
 want you can take the big plastic thing off and leave it with just that
 little thing. On it are numbers 1-6. Get 2 Alligator Clips attached to wires
 and plug the WIRE end into 2 & 5. Attach with a soldiring iron or some tape
 whatever. Theres your fuckin beige box.
 Overview: Ph jack. 6 numbers on back. Plug 1 alligator clip into 2 and
           another one into 5. Theres your beige box.
 What to do:
 Theres a grey thing, outside your house or your neighbours. Open it up with
 a fuckin screw driver or some shit. Get the 5mm thick wire and skin the
 bitch. Theres 4 wires in there. Plug the alligators on to 2 of them (they're
 twisted in 2's, go figure.) and plug a ph into the jack. Bingo, a dial tone.
 If you dont get a dial tone change around the alligators.
 Thats my shit as short beige box plan/guide. I was half stoned when I wrote
 it so dont blame the spelling etc.
 Check out http://listen.to/att for lots of box plans. This site rocks.
              This zine has been closed down due to lameness
             The name phanz was founded by Ka-Ko-chi in 1992 and does not allow
             this lame group to destroy all of phanzs previous history in
             the new zealand scene.  If any of phanzs original klan read anyof
             the other releases from the new phanz i am glad to say you won't
             be reading this school book junk again.
