But for some reason, whenever I log in, @ Email and the free association
base start me out at message # -16 or whatever.  When I go paging through
the messages, it goes -16, -15, -14 etc, but always showing me message
#1.  The problem is that this happens with every login -- pointers
are not revised with each reading.
