You have to run a program called clbase to actaully delete the messages 
(the delete command just marks them for deletion).  clbase also screws up 
file permissions, so I use a script file to fix them afterwards.  If you 
want, I will mail (or post) a copy of this script (which I run 4 times a 
day via cron).
