I bet that the combined debt of the countries that you mention (Sweeden, England) is less than the debt that we've got. You argue that malpractice litigation is driving up the cost of health care here. I agree, but have you looked at malpractice litigation statistics for countries with socialized medicine? It hardly exists, because lawyers have a very hard time sueing goverment employees (which doctors in a socialized system are). So I agree with you, if we had socialized medicine here we could effectively contain the costs of medical malpractice by making it extremely hard for lawyers to bring suits against doctors because they would be, in effect, government employees.
