Why is the directory in this paragraph format? To get you in the mood,
actually, since there won't be graphics or sounds to accompany these works.
Instead, they're just going to be directories upon directories, filled with
the works of hundreds of people over the past few decades.
On the whole these files will be maintained in the old "8+3" format, for realism. Read the Extension Explanation if you're confused by the file extensions. Keep in mind that these extensions are sometimes pretty arbitrary. There's many different kinds of Humor that permeated the textfiles, but for some reason I consider some of them not just funny but promoting a sense of fun. Some of them tell stories while some just report the news. There were also a few textfile writing groups like Octothorpe Productions. For the pure computer people, who played Adventure games on their Apple II's and posted messages on BBS's (sometimes in ANSI), they worked on the programming side of things, when they weren't reading Science Fiction. Occasionally, they'd do Ham Radio as well or indulge in some ASCII artwork or music. On the so called "underground side", Hackers and Phreakers tried their best to educate and to show off, revealing secrets they discovered through long nights or carefully worded phone calls. All of the self-styled Anarchists just wanted to blow stuff up. They didn't know what they were doing! Don't follow the directions! They also wrote each other's School Reports if they weren't passing viruses. |
